Okay, so the cat is out the bag... We know influencer marketing is a thing and it works well, but have you ever done it? Do you even know where to start? What is the purpose? What do you even get out of it? Are all questions I asked when helping clients with brand deals and partnerships.
Newly in on the game, we got fleeced a lot with influencers giving us shit deliverables or demanding so much from us it wasn't worth it. We didn't even know what we needed from them also, so we were also the problem.
But now since that day ten years ago, here are the steps I have learned to know before going into any partnership or brand deal :
Still scared? Hire us to do this for you!
1. Define Objectives
Clearly outline shared goals and what both parties aim to achieve from the partnership.
2. Role Assignment
Establish clear roles and responsibilities to avoid confusion and streamline collaboration.
3. Partnership KPIs
Set measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of the collaboration (e.g., revenue growth, lead generation).
4. Communication Plan
Develop a structured communication plan to ensure consistent updates and alignment.
5. Co-Marketing Campaigns
Collaborate on joint marketing efforts, such as webinars, co-branded content, or events, to maximize reach.
6. Technology Integration
Use tools like CRMs, project management platforms, or shared dashboards to facilitate real-time collaboration and data sharing.
7. Customer Insights
Share customer data and insights to better understand market needs and tailor offerings.
8. Periodic Reviews
Conduct regular performance reviews to assess progress, identify challenges, and refine strategies.
9. Conflict Resolution
Establish a process for resolving disputes or misalignments to maintain a healthy partnership.
10. Innovation Opportunities
Explore co-innovation opportunities to develop new products or services by pooling expertise.
Important Data Points to Track:
Revenue Growth: Measure the financial impact of the partnership.
Lead Generation: Track the number of leads generated through joint efforts.
Engagement Metrics: Monitor customer engagement with co-marketing campaigns.
Customer Retention: Assess how the partnership impacts customer loyalty.
Task Completion Rates: Evaluate how efficiently collaborative tasks are executed.
Market Reach: Track the increase in audience size or geographic reach.
Cost Savings: Measure operational efficiencies gained through collaboration.
Partner Satisfaction: Gather feedback from partners to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
Innovation Impact: Track the success of co-developed products or services.
Brand Awareness: Measure improvements in brand visibility through joint efforts.
These tasks and data points ensure that B2B partnerships are productive, measurable, and aligned with long-term growth strategies.
